NCAA scandal

University of North Carolina college basketball team has five NCAA charges, including a lack of institutional control for poor insight of an academic department popular with athletes and the counselors that advised them. Studies department as potential improper benefits by saying that the athletes received access to courses and other assistance generally unavailable to non-athletes. The charges were more broad-based than focused on individual sports. All five charges are considered Level One violations, described by the NCAA as a "severe breach of conduct." Cunningham said it's too early to speculate on the potential sanctions the school will face.      

NCAA scandals

NCAA scandals are very serious and one NCAA scandal that happened is Syracuse is being punished for three things. Those three things are improper benefits, academic conduct, and a failure to enforce the school's drug policy. It took the NCAA eight years to finish the investigation on the improprieties within Syracuse's athletic department. The end result was one of the toughest punishments college sports has ever seen. Orange's past, present and future in handing out a penalty that includes the vacation of 108 wins from coach Jim Boeheim's record, and the loss of three scholarships per year for the next four seasons. More than anything, the NCAA is punishing Syracuse for "a lack of institutional control." Boeheim was given a nine game suspension and Syracuse has to pay up a lot of money. One million dollars and the school has to return all of the money. There is also a $500 fine per game played by an ineligible student athlete. Syracuse is being punished for violations that spanned a decade.

I emailed someone from the ECHL and they didn't replay to my email. I emailed ECHL to get some insight or information about my project.

Proposal

For my project I am researching how the NHL, AHL, and ECHL differ in the number of players and when they can come up to play in the NHL. I want to find out how minor players can come up to play in the NHL. Also, I want to find out how many times players can be called up to play in the NHL. I want to find out what skills the players need to come play in the NHL and how the NHL teams call up the minor players to come play for their team. When I am researching for my project I am hoping that I can have a better understanding on how the NHL, AHL, and ECHL works to call up minor league players to come play in the NHL. Also, I want to find out the relationship between the teams and how it works for each NHL team to have their minor league players come play for their NHL team.

NCCA Hockey Player Arrested

NCCA hockey player Max Nicastro got arrested for Sexual Assault. Max played for BU stands for Boston University. Max is on a $25,000 cash bail and he was arrested on Charles River Campus by the Boston University Police. Nicastro was accused of sexual assault by a female student. Michael Lynch, BU athletic director, says Nicastro has been suspended from the team pending the outcome of the investigation. Max also played two seasons with the Chicago Steel of the US Hockey League, the country's top junior league, after playing for the Los Angeles Junior Kings. Max was also an All-Star with the Steel in 2009 the same year he graduated from high school. At BU, Max was a member of Hockey's East All-Rookie team in 2010. He had three goals and had six assists this season before his arrest. Max was arrested on February 21st, 2012.
